Meet Randy Clinkscales:
Randy Clinkscales founded Clinkscales Elder Law Practice in 1985. He is a 1980 graduate of Washburn Law School and has represented clients at the administrative, county, state and federal levels in his 25+ years of practice. He is married to Barbara Clinkscales and they have three sons. Randy was the first area attorney to become a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA). He is also a member of the Kansas Chapter of NAELA, the Life Care Planning Law Firm Association and the Elder Law Section of the Kansas Bar Association. In 2001, Clinkscales Elder Law Practice began its Elder-Centered Practice, focusing on issues facing our aging population, as well as those caring for those who are aging. He authors a monthly column for the Kansas Senior Times with a circulation of 12,000, where he writes about legal issues and benefits facing older adults. He is also the editor of the Kansas section of Elder Law Answers, a national organization of elder law attorneys, and is the editor of the Kansas section of a book for accountants, AICPA. Randy writes and publishes the Elder Law Update, a bimonthly newsletter sent to more than 900 homes, health facilities and businesses. His office also publishes the Elder Law Update - Health Professionals Edition, a newsletter for health care professionals, Elder Law Update - Financial Professionals Edition, a newsletter for financial professionals and the Life Care Journal for its Life Care Planning clients. Randy presents seminars for continuing educational purposes through the Area Health Education Center to health care professionals. He also presents seminars for continuing education information to attorneys in the state of Kansas, as well as provides a variety of topic seminars to the public.

Meet Our Staff:
Jean Johnson:
Jean has worked at Clinkscales Elder Law Practice since 1995. She is originally from Harlan, Iowa, moving to Hays in 1985 to establish her family and obtain her degree in Accounting at Fort Hays State University. She has four children, 11 to 21 years of age. Jean is another one of the voices that may greet you on the phone. She is our accounting and marketing manager and also assists with estate and business planning, Medicaid, and other elder law issues.

Joy Thomas:
Joy is a new addition to our office in March 2005. She is a 1997 graduate of Friends University and has worked as a legal secretary since 1995 and obtained her paralegal certificate in 1999. Joy and her family moved here from Hugoton, Kansas. She is married to Aaron Thomas and has 2 children. She is one of the pleasant voices you may talk to when you call our office. She handles much of the Medicaid, estate and business planning, as well as commercial and real estate transactions.

Marie Leiker:
Marie is our Care Coordinator for our clients and families in the Life Care Plan. She is originally from Hays, is a Registered Nurse and a certified family nurse practitioner. Her nursing background began at Hadley Regional Medical Center. She was director of Community Health Services at HMC before becoming the Director of Nursing services at Hays Good Samaritan Center. She has worked at Ellis Good Samaritan and Via Christi - St. Johns of Hays. Marie performs our assessments, oversees our clients care for the remainder of their lives, and helps the caregivers of our clients with problems they may be having.
